HONOUR NANA'S LEGACY.

We are asking the authorities to rename Mumbai Central Railway Station in honour of Jagannath “Nana” Shankarshet.

The final official name and nomenclature will be determined through the appropriate railway and government process.

HE HELPED BUILD MUMBAI

Nana Shankarshet was a pioneering force in 19th-century Mumbai, driving the creation of girls' schools, founding higher education institutions, and establishing Western India's first civic governance boards to empower native citizens.

HE HELPED BRING THE RAILWAY TO INDIA

As a founding director of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway (GIPR), Nana personally loboed for bringing the railway network to India and sat aboard the historic first passenger train from Boribunder to Thane in 1853.

HIS LEGACY STILL LIVES HERE

From landmarks, institutions, and major chowks to the modern Jagannath Shankar Sheth Metro Station, Nana's name remains woven into the physical and cultural geography of Mumbai.
